Clear believes that malocclusion should be treated without limitation – without limitation to clinical confidence or experience, patient education, training or cost. According to the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) over 85% of the US population can benefit from orthodontic treatment but only approximately 1% does. Of the 1% of orthodontic case starts, less than 15% of those are with clear aligners. This represents an unlimited opportunity. OUR STORY 

Clear was founded in 2012 by two former Align Technology employees who had a clear vision of the future of the Clear Aligner market and Clear Aligner treatment planning services. They started Clear Treatment Planning Solutions, or ClearTPS which is now the largest Clear Aligner Treatment Planning Service (TPS) in the world. What was also clear at the time was the fact that clear aligner manufacturers chose not to provide diagnosis and treatment plan optimization services to their doctors to limit their liability and in spite of a desperate need and growing demand. Align Terms and Conditions. What Clear Aligner manufacturers do provide is a virtual treatment plan setup where treating doctors are on their own to figure it out. No diagnosis. No treatment planning. It soon became apparent that Clear Aligner manufacturers were more interested in just fabricating more Clear Aligners than they were in ensuring consistent and predictable clinical outcomes for their providers. This is how Clear was born.

TREATMENT PLAN OPTIMIZATION? 

Clear Aligner manufacturers provide treating doctors with a virtual setup using treatment planning software that can often be difficult to manage, clinically and technically. That’s all you get is a setup. When we educate our doctors about our treatment plan optimization services we often put it in these terms, “a setup is a setup is a setup.” Factor in a communication barrier where a treating doctor needs to have a clinical discussion with a technician things can go sideways very quickly and they often do resulting in compromised or failed clinical outcomes. But that’s ok because you can always do a case refinement or additional aligners and another and another, right? You get the point. If your virtual setup was properly diagnosed and the treatment plan optimized you would have more consistent and more predictable clinical results.
